I love jam! And I have always loved jam since I was a little girl watching my mum making jam. Through the year when all different fruits came in to season I always managed to lick the spoon, when she'd finished bottling the sweet yummy jam, and so year on year, I have also bottled the changing season in a jam jar , so that in the depths of winter you could pop open a jar and tuck into the memories of high summer succulent strawberries or tart raspberries on a toasted crumpet.
Here I find myself being totally absorbed by the process of making jam, putting a little jam on a plate' to see if it's set, with a pile of plates waiting in the fridge to test for the crucial rippling of the mixture' oh joy, it's done, the oven contains the sterile jam jars with jam funnel in hand time to fill just look at the jewel like colours. This is why I love jam and this is why I hope you like my jam, a little love and memories in a jar that tastes fab on a freshly baked scone or in steaming rice pudding, yum!
